In the Room
Good food and nice ambiance in pub.
Very small room, even smaller bathroom. Attic conversion with only small velux window, which you had to stand on bed to open. Shower door did not close properly, risking water on floor. No bath mat. "Continental breakfast" was two packets of cereal and two rolls in room, but no space to eat. Free wifi internet access was not available when we arrived, but the boss fetched a dongle which we were able to use on one computer.
it is in a nice part of the country and fronts onto a nice green. The people are nice and seemed friendly and helpful.
I booked this for my mother for one night and was horrified when I saw the room. She went out and bought air fresheners and so it was left in a better state than it was found in. Breakfast was two individual boxes of cereal. There was a guy in his underpants and socks on the landing when we came back from dinner. This accomodation is more suited to transient contractors.
All I can say about our stay was uncomfortable and awful! It room was absolutly filthy... There was grime everywhere!! The continential breakfast included a croissant tied in a sandwich bag on the side board! We couldnt bare to have a shower at the thought of coming out dirtier than we went in... Scum all down the walls, filthy shower curtain and just plain dirty! We had a major leak in our bathroom so enjoyed a massive puddle to step in whenever entering the bathroom! I would never reccomend this hotel for anyone, coming off the plane to this was even more depressing than usual!
Staff did all they could to help us and were great.
Room small and the bed was pretty uncomfortable. The en suite bathroom was also very small with fittings that weer not fited!!!!!!!!!The shelf was literally sitting on top of the soap dispenser (ie not actually drilled/screwed to the wall) and the cold tap was not fitted on to the sink. The shower itself was poor too as most of the water hit the walls off the shower.
I did read other peoples reviews but it did say it had been referbish, it hasn't so I thought it may have changed. When we arrived the staff were resonable polite, We just got our room key then whent back into the pub for something to eat so didn't realy look at the room.I Asked the bar man for his wi-fi no and he told me it wasnt working as they had just had a new hub installed and it hadn't been set up yet, but that was one of the other customers reviews,so it Doesnt have wi-fi either. Had a few drinks before going to our room. At first it didnt look that bad the bedding looked nice and clean, the beds were well used, lumpy and squeeky, But it was the bathroom it stank of sewerage you had to keep the door shut. The sink is a childrens hand sink so if you need to have a wash you have to have a shower but the stench is that bad you dont even want to wash. IIwould say this is the worst place I have ever stayed.
King William is a pub with accomadation above the pub. The location was set in the Hertforshire countryside but only 5 mins from Luton airport and 10 mins from Luton train station. The staff were friendly and the locals even friendlier! We had a lovley pint and sat in a quiet corner of the pub for a few hours before retiring to our room. The room was very small but cosy and very clean. The bed was comfortable. We were not disturbed during the night by other travellers and slept well. And the price was amazing! Forty five pound including continental breakfast between two of us!
I think the pub could do with a lick of paint. The shower head needs replacing in room 6 as the water went in every direction except down on me!
The room was accessed outside of the main building (which is a pub) via a metal fire escape and the walls between the rooms are paper thin so you can hear everything. In the middle of the night I was awoken by two men entering my room, depsite the fact that I had locked the door and left the ket in - their key pushed mine out and was able to undo the lock. Thankfully it was just in error and I was not molested or robbed in my sleep! I can only assume that there is only one key used for all rooms so security is a massive issue!
I booked this hotel for my partner and his friend to stay in as they were attending the Sonisphere festival at Knebworth and as a surprise for his 40th birthday. My partner told me that there was mould in the shower so he did not have a shower for the 2 nights that he stayed. He also said that breakfast consisted of uht milk and cereal in the room which I found quite poor.
Lovely pub good food accomodation could be cleaner.
nice bar staff
stairs & landing leading to rooms were shockingly dirty & the window flower boxes were full of cigarette buts, breakfast was a roll & croissant left in a plastic bag in your room
We are in our 60s, and have stayed at many hotels and B&Bs, this would have to be the worst for facilites and comfort. On arrival we almost choked on the smell of the room deodoriser. Then the bathroom/toilet was so small swinging a cat would have been a major problem. I am a big man, and my partner is a smallish woman. She could not even close the bathroom door to use the toilet as her long legs were jammed against the door. I was the same, and as far as having a shower, forget it. The bed was ok, its about the only good point, but wait, we started to itch and didnt get into the sheets. We slept in our clothes on top of the bed, and scratced and scratched. Why did we stay there/? ... it was late when we arrived and we had an early flight at Luton. So it was for the convenience we chose it. You get what you pay for !
Bathroom facilities dimensions; poor or no Internet access as advertised.
We were really disapointed by this hotel but at least The person at the bar was really nice and welcoming. And it was close to the airport!
The room was not really clean!(floor and bathroom especially). It was really dated! Looked more like a pub guest house than a hotel! And worst, the milk sachet in the room were past the date since August 2010. When we poured it in our thes and coffees, it was floating on the top! For us it meant that this has not been check since 8 months and is not meeting the health an safety requirement. Also, it was 45 pound fora night with breakfast but the quantity of bread was ridiculy small!!!
Staff very nice
Room was very small. No ventilation Door to ensuite would open more that a third. Shower head was broken. General state of facilities poor for the price. Ok for budget travellers if price was less than £25 a room. As always when the rooms are above the pub, you can hear the noise from the pub punters
